Several hiking/trekking options are available to us on the Nicoya Peninsula.

We can start from our own backyard at the Go Primal Camp through beautiful canopied forest down the hillside to Playa Hermosa. This is a 1 1/2 hour round trip, a great way to start your day… Especially if you bring your surfboard or fishing rod :-)

The Cabo Blanco trail that takes you into the Cabo Blanco Absolute Nature Reserve, gives you a glimpse of the Tropical Dry Forest of the Peninsula. Many birds can be seen along this trail and it takes only about 1 1/2 hours to make this loop. This entrance is on the Cabuya side of the Reserve.

Going further North East toward Jicaral, we can walk a river bed to one of the most spectacular waterfalls on the Nicoya Peninsula. This is situated just outside the Karen Mogensen Nature Reserve and is a must see for visitors to the area. It takes about a 4hour round trip from Santa Teresa but it is well worth the time and effort. Once you are there it’s a beautiful 45 minute walk to the Falls and natural swimming pools. You will certainly want to go for a swim so bring a change of clothes and small towel if you like. This experience will completely change your outlook!
